    How Do Lead Returns Work?

Our lead return window is 72 hours. Eligible returns receive wallet credits, not cash refunds; a merchant already having a processor is not returnable. Aged lead returns are limited to bad phone numbers. With shared leads at $25 and exclusive leads at $45, you should review purchases promptly and distinguish return eligibility from sales outcomes.

How does our 72-hour lead return window work?

You have a 72-hour window to request a lead return. Make reviewing new purchases part of your daily sales workflow rather than waiting until a weekly pipeline review. A timely request still needs an eligible reason; submitting within the window does not make every issue returnable.

We recommend keeping a clear account of the problem and your outreach attempts so you can explain the request accurately. Separate a phone-number problem from an unanswered call, and separate an existing processing relationship from a merchant’s willingness to discuss alternatives. Those distinctions help you avoid treating routine sales friction as a return issue.

Do not postpone review simply because you purchased several leads together. Your team should have enough capacity to assess purchases within the return window.

Which reasons qualify an aged lead for a return?

For our aged leads, the listed return reason is a bad phone number. Aged returns are limited to that reason; do not apply a broader interpretation based on whether a merchant responds, wants a quote or matches your preferred sales opportunity.

A missed call does not establish that a number is bad. Likewise, voicemail, slow replies or a merchant declining a conversation are different from a phone-number defect. Describe the actual problem rather than selecting a reason merely because outreach was unsuccessful.

Our aged leads start at $0.75 each, with a minimum order of 25. Their lower price does not expand return eligibility. Build your buying decision around the age and economics of the opportunity, not an expectation that every unproductive conversation can be credited.

Why is a merchant who already has a processor not returnable?

Already having a processor is not a valid return reason. For a working payments representative, an existing processing relationship is a discovery topic: you can explore whether the merchant is considering different pricing, service, equipment or payment capabilities.

A lead purchase is not a promise that the merchant is starting from zero or has no competing provider. Keep that distinction clear when assigning leads to representatives and reviewing their results.

We recommend recording an existing processor as sales context, not automatically marking the lead for return. You still need to determine whether there is a relevant opportunity. If the merchant is satisfied with their current arrangement, that affects your pipeline assessment, but the processor relationship itself does not create return eligibility.

What happens financially when a return is accepted?

Eligible returns are handled as wallet credits, not cash refunds. The distinction matters when you plan your lead budget: a credit supports future purchases through your wallet rather than sending money back to your payment method.

Our standard shared lead price is $25, and our standard exclusive lead price is $45. Pricing can vary for high-risk or high-volume leads. Assess your spending using the actual purchases you make, and keep pending return requests separate from credits already reflected in your wallet.

We offer no contracts; you can pause anytime. Pausing future purchases and requesting a return are separate decisions. Neither a pause nor a change in your prospecting strategy turns a purchase into a cash refund.

How should your team prepare a return request?

Start by identifying the specific purchase, the issue and whether the request falls within our 72-hour window. For an aged lead, check that the issue is a bad phone number before pursuing a return.

Keep your explanation factual and concise. Describe what happened without substituting conclusions such as “poor quality” or “did not close” for the actual issue. Outreach notes can help your team distinguish an invalid number from ordinary difficulty reaching a business.

We recommend assigning one person to coordinate return requests when several representatives share purchasing responsibilities. That reduces duplicate work and keeps your wallet accounting separate from sales dispositions. For questions about our policy, you can contact our founder, Chad Buchanan, at (248) 686-6955.

Does consent information change your return or outreach responsibilities?

Our own campaigns display this consent disclosure: “By submitting, you agree that MerchantCardLeads and its partner payment-processing providers may contact you by phone, text and email about merchant services, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

New campaign leads carry the captured consent text, timestamp and source page in dashboard, email and webhook delivery. Use that context when evaluating your outreach; it does not replace your responsibility for TCPA and DNC rules.

Do not assume an aged lead carries renewed consent or that every historical lead has the same consent history. Your opt-in to buyer SMS alerts is separate from a merchant’s consent. Neither consent information nor an alert subscription expands the listed reasons for returning an aged lead.

What purchase expectations should you separate from return eligibility?

We sell merchant leads, not live transfers, appointment-setting services, inbound calls or pay-per-call products. Your team is responsible for outreach and qualification. A purchase should therefore be evaluated as an opportunity to pursue, not as a scheduled conversation or completed sale.

Fresh exclusivity does not prohibit later disclosed aged resale. Keep distribution terms separate from return reasons when choosing between lead options.

The practical rule is straightforward: review promptly, use the applicable return reason and account for accepted returns as wallet credits. For aged leads, that means bad phone numbers only. A merchant’s existing processor is not grounds for a return.

    Where these leads come from

Our owned merchant-services sites and campaigns attract business owners searching for processing quotes, savings reviews and provider comparisons. New campaign inquiries are inbound and include partner-contact consent. Historical aged leads retain their original source and consent evidence; they are not new inquiries.

What should you know before contacting a merchant?

Our campaigns capture merchant inquiries with a disclosure naming MerchantCardLeads and partner payment-processing providers. New campaign leads include the captured consent text, timestamp and source page in your dashboard, email and webhook delivery. You are responsible for following TCPA and DNC rules in your own outreach.

By submitting, you agree that MerchantCardLeads and its partner payment-processing providers may contact you by phone, text and email about merchant services, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Buyer SMS alerts use a separate opt-in: “I agree to receive automated lead-alert text messages from MerchantCardLeads at this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

    No contracts. Pause anytime.

Real-time return requests: within 72 hours. Approved returns become wallet credits; “already has a processor” is not a valid return reason. Aged returns: bad phone only.

What else do payments reps ask?

Can I return an aged lead because nobody answered?

An unanswered call alone does not establish a bad phone number. Our aged return policy is limited to bad phone numbers, not lack of response.

Does submitting within 72 hours automatically qualify my request?

No. Your request must also meet the applicable return criteria. The time window and the return reason are separate requirements.

Can I take an accepted return as cash if I stop buying?

No. We handle eligible returns as wallet credits, not cash refunds. Your decision to pause purchases does not change that policy.

Can my representative return a lead after learning the merchant uses another processor?

No. Already having a processor is not returnable. Your representative should treat that information as sales context.
