How do you choose a monthly lead spend limit?

Start with cash you can commit to merchant acquisition without relying on future residuals to cover current bills. Separate your lead purchasing allowance from payroll, CRM costs, outreach tools and merchant onboarding expenses. Your total acquisition budget must cover both buying opportunities and working them.

We recommend writing down three numbers before you buy: your monthly lead ceiling, your daily lead allowance and the amount you will hold back for later purchases. Treat the monthly ceiling as a limit, not a spending target. If follow-ups fall behind or processor fit is weak, spending less is the right decision.

Keep a running total of purchases across all lead types. Separate allowances are useful for planning, but shared, exclusive and aged purchases should still count toward one overall monthly ceiling.

How do you turn that monthly limit into a daily lead cap?

Divide your monthly lead allowance by the number of days you will actively handle new opportunities. Then divide that daily dollar amount by your chosen lead price and round down to whole leads. Your final daily cap should be the lower of that result and your actual outreach capacity.

For a hypothetical $1,000 monthly allowance spread over 20 buying days, you have $50 per day. At our listed prices, that supports two shared leads for $50 or one exclusive lead for $45. Buying one exclusive lead on each of those days would cost $900, leaving $100 unspent.

Do not automatically carry unused daily capacity into a larger order the next morning. First check outstanding callbacks, proposals and merchant document requests. A daily cap protects your response time as well as your cash.

Which pack size fits your first budget?

Our Starter pack is $250, Growth is $500 and Scale is $1,000. Custom packs start at $250. Choose the amount that fits your purchase plan rather than selecting a larger pack simply because your monthly ceiling permits it.

At the listed shared price, $250 covers 10 leads, $500 covers 20 and $1,000 covers 40. At the listed exclusive price, those amounts cover five, 11 and 22 whole leads respectively, with some balance remaining. These calculations use $25 shared and $45 exclusive pricing; pricing can vary for high-risk or high-volume leads.

Pack size and monthly budget serve different purposes. Your pack funds a purchase allocation; your monthly limit governs cumulative spending, including additional packs. We recommend counting every top-up against that limit before committing to it.

How should you divide spending between shared, exclusive and aged leads?

Use a dollar allocation for each type so lower-priced purchases do not quietly expand your workload. Shared leads cost $25 each and can reach up to three buyers. Exclusive leads cost $45 each. Fresh exclusivity does not prohibit later disclosed aged resale.

Our aged prices are $6 for 1–30 days, $3 for 31–90 days, $1.50 for 91–180 days and $0.75 for 180+ days, with a minimum aged order of 25 leads. Lower purchase cost does not mean lower follow-up effort. Allocate aged spending only when you have time to reassess merchant interest and processing fit.

For example, a hypothetical $500 allocation could cover 10 shared leads for $250 and five exclusive leads for $225, leaving $25. This is purchase arithmetic, not a forecast of sales. We sell merchant leads—not live transfers, appointments, inbound calls or pay-per-call.

What should make you pause or increase your budget?

Pause when new leads would compete with overdue follow-ups, when your team lacks staffed coverage, or when spending reaches your ceiling. With us, there are no contracts and you can pause anytime. You do not need to exhaust your allowance to justify the original plan.

Before increasing spending, review costs per funded merchant account, time spent per opportunity and earnings retained after servicing costs. Evaluate purchases over a consistent period so recent leads are not judged against older opportunities that have had longer to close.

Increase only when you can afford the additional spend and maintain your response process. More purchases cannot fix a processor mismatch or an unresolved onboarding bottleneck. For help choosing a pack, you can reach our founder, Chad Buchanan, at (248) 686-6955.

What outreach responsibilities belong in your budget?

Reserve working time for consent review and outreach controls. Our own campaigns display this disclosure: “By submitting, you agree that MerchantCardLeads and its partner payment-processing providers may contact you by phone, text and email about merchant services, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

New campaign leads carry the captured consent text, timestamp and source page in dashboard, email and webhook delivery. You are responsible for TCPA and DNC rules in your own outreach. Buying an aged lead does not renew consent, and buyer SMS alert opt-in is separate from permission to contact merchants.

These tasks consume capacity even though they are not part of the per-lead price. Include them when deciding how many new opportunities your team can responsibly handle each day.

    Where these leads come from

Our owned merchant-services sites and campaigns attract business owners searching for processing quotes, savings reviews and provider comparisons. New campaign inquiries are inbound and include partner-contact consent. Historical aged leads retain their original source and consent evidence; they are not new inquiries.

What should you know before contacting a merchant?

Our campaigns capture merchant inquiries with a disclosure naming MerchantCardLeads and partner payment-processing providers. New campaign leads include the captured consent text, timestamp and source page in your dashboard, email and webhook delivery. You are responsible for following TCPA and DNC rules in your own outreach.

By submitting, you agree that MerchantCardLeads and its partner payment-processing providers may contact you by phone, text and email about merchant services, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Buyer SMS alerts use a separate opt-in: “I agree to receive automated lead-alert text messages from MerchantCardLeads at this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.”

    No contracts. Pause anytime.

Real-time return requests: within 72 hours. Approved returns become wallet credits; “already has a processor” is not a valid return reason. Aged returns: bad phone only.

What else do payments reps ask?

Should I spend more on Monday to replace leads I skipped over the weekend?

Not automatically. We recommend keeping purchases within your staffed capacity and monthly ceiling. Clear existing callbacks before adding volume to compensate for days when you were unavailable.

Does a $1,000 pack mean I should spend $1,000 every month?

No. Our Scale pack is a funding choice, not a monthly spending obligation. You can set a lower purchase pace and pause anytime.

How do I budget when I switch from shared to exclusive leads?

Recalculate your daily quantity using $45 rather than $25. Keep the dollar ceiling unchanged unless you deliberately approve a larger budget; preserving lead quantity would increase spending.

Should unused lead money move into next month's allowance?

Only after a fresh capacity and cash review. We recommend setting each month's ceiling deliberately rather than allowing unused allowances to accumulate into an oversized purchase.
